A couple weeks ago we reviewed the knockoff Wilcox G24 mounts that you can buy on amazon. Truth be told those do get the job done. But if you want something that is a good compromise between a real Wilcox G24 and a cheap amazon knockoff, the Argus A4 Lightweight Night Vision Mount is actually really nice.
Everything about it as far as tolerances goes is tighter than the chinese clone. There is some play in the mount, but it is honestly very minimal. The argus version weights less as well. They designed these things to cut out areas that have unneccessary extra weight. It really is very light when compared to other G24 clones. When it comes to things on your head, ounces are a really big deal. The machining is great and the finish quality is also very good. Where my amazon g24 is already showing wear, the Argus which has had an equal amount of use looks brand new.
The argus mount is significantly more expensive though, coming in at 2 to 3x what the Chinese wilcox g24 clones cost.
In my opinion the higher quality is definitely worth it.
So there’s no doubt, the argus mount is definitely the better mount between the two clones. However, if you don’t plan to buy a real wilcox g24 later, my advice is to go with the argus mount out of the gate.
If you do plan to upgrade later, you could always go cheap just to get the ball rolling and buy the real thing down the road after saving up. Anyways, I hope this is helpful to you, if it was please consider subscribing to the channel, we have way more night vision content coming, have a great week.
