The SilencerCo Osprey 45, a supressor that doesn’t need supressor sights

The SilencerCo Osprey 45 is a 45 caliber supressor as the name implies. Its kind of a unique looking supressor, the real draw of it is that because of its design, it sits lower on the barrel allowing your to use shorter height sights.

Does it actually work?

I don’t honestly think you can use stock height sights, probably reduced height sights would work well like the Dawson precision ones I run on my glock 34, but even in silencer co’s picture of the same pistol I was using, you can see stock height sights won’t fully clear the supressor. It would be shootable still if using a combat hold though, but you’ll probably need slightly higher sights.

I shot this on a Glock 21

This glock 21 had full supressor height sights on it which easily cleared the Osprey. The supressor does a good job of reducing noise. I definitely wouldn’t want to shoot it without ear pro here in an indoor range, but it was still a lot less loud than many of the pistols going off around me. Outdoors I think this would do a very good job. You could probably get away running it with ear plugs outdoors for prolonged shooting. Rugged and Lightweight

The supressor is built with aluminum and 17-4 stainless steel so its a pretty rugged can. With a length of 7.9″ and weighing 9.2 ounces, its comparable in size to other 45 caliber cans yet a little bit lighter.

Osprey 45 helped reduce felt recoil

It definitely helped reduce the felt recoil of this Glock 21 chambered in 45 ACP. I found that the pistol was really easy to control overall. In this video im running the lever based gen 1 osprey. My understanding is that the 2.0 version which has a bush putton indexed mounting system. Its supposed to be a lot more convenient.

Suppressor Shape makes it obvious if it starts walking off

Another advantage of the shape of the supressor is that if it’ll start walking off, you’ll know immediately, as the can isn’t round.

The Osprey 45 is Not a bad option

So overall this can isn’t a bad option, I rented this one, so I don’t have a ton of experience with it, but it did do a pretty good job versus other supressors I’ve used in the past. With an MSRP of $819, this is definitely one of the higher priced options on the market. However, I’d say that at this price it isn’t a bad option at all. If you can find a range that has suppresor rentals and has this one in stock, its definitely worth having a look.
