Don’t Worry, Disassembling a Locked up Glock is Easy
Alright so you screwed up. You accidentally put your slide back on without installing the barrel on your Glock pistol. Whoops. I’ve done this a couple times myself.
You’ve locked up your glock slide really badly and can’t get it off the frame. A common reason for this is that you might have re-assembled the gun forgetting to reinstall the barrel. The slide now won’t slide off cleanly. You should not try to force the slide off of the pistol, there is a better way.
In this video we’ll show you how to strip the slide internals out of the slide with it still attached to the frame. The slide will then slide right off like normal.
Good news is its really easy to fix.
If you can lock the slide back, you can actually disassemble a Glock handgun without removing the frame. Thank you Gaston Glock for making these pistols stupid simple.
Before we start, always treat every gun as if it is loaded.
With slide locked back were going to take something like an allen wrench and put pressure down on the plastic striker liner. This will relieve pressure on the backplate of the glock allowing us to remove the rear plate.
Next, we’re going to pull the striker assembly out of the back of the gun. We’ll remove the plunger. Then we’ll remove the extractor. With all of those pieces removed, the safety plunger should fall down through the magwell of the gun, be careful to catch it.
Now you can remove the slide like you normally do. That’s it guys. Now reassemble more carefully this time. Hopefully this video saves someone out there some headache. Have a great day.
